Description

Amphotericin B is a polyene antifungal compound that increases levels of ROS and forms pores or channels in membranes by binding membrane sterols. Amphotericin B induces iNOS, activates astrocytes, and increases expression of IL-1β, TNF-α, BDNF, and GDNF, displaying potential neuroprotective activity and therapeutic effects in models of prion diseases.
