Description

Aphidicolin is a diterpene antibiotic initially produced by Cephalosporum that exhibits antiviral activities. Aphidicolin inhibits eukaryotic DNA replication by inhibiting DNA polymerase and inducing S phase cell cycle arrest. In research models, aphidicolin is used to study cell cycle phases. This compound also inhibits the growth of vaccinia virus in vivo by inhibiting viral DNA polymerase.
