Description

Hydroxyzine is a first generation antihistamine that acts as an inverse agonist at histamine H1 receptors. Hydroxyzine exhibits anti-allergic, antipsychotic, anxiolytic, and sedative activities; it is the parent compound of cetirizine. Hydroxyzine also inhibits 5-HT2A, D1/2, and α1-adrenergic receptors and acts as a functional inhibitor of acid sphingomyelinase (FIASMA).
