Hypothemycin is a polyketide found in Setophoma that exhibits anticancer, antifungal, and anti-parasitic activities. Hypothemycin is a resorcyclic acid lactone. This compound inhibits cell survival in melanoma and colon cancer cells. Hypothemycin also disrupts cell wall and endomembrane function in species of Pernophythora and suppresses growth of Trypanosoma in vitro and in vivo.
