Description
Ketoprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that non-selectively inhibits COX-1 and COX-2. Ketoprofen is clinically used to treat dental and arthritis pain in humans and veterinary subjects. Ketoprofen exhibits anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, anticoagulant, and immunomodulatory activities. Ketoprofen inhibits lactate dehydrogenase in platelets, decreasing platelet count. In animal models of septic lung infection, ketoprofen increases survival rates as well as macrophage phagocytosis and neutrophil recruitment.
