Description
Nα,Nα-Dimethyl-L-arginine is also known as asymmetrical dimethyl-L-arginine (ADMA). This compound is an endogenous inhibitor of NOS and is involved in the regulation of the water/sodium balance. High levels of ADMA are associated with obesity, atherosclerosis, renal disease, and coronary artery disease. ADMA aggravates gastric mucosal lesions in vivo, increasing levels of TNF-α and suppressing gastric blood flow.
