Bromosporine is an inhibitor of BET bromodomains (BRDs) BRD2, BRD4, BRD9, and CECR2; it may exhibit anticancer potential. It has been found to have a synergistic effect with 5-fluorouracil against colorectal cancer cells. Bromosporine is also effective with in vitro studies in reactivating latent HIV-1 reservoirs in order to eradicate the disease through a “shock and kill” strategy.
