Description
Cyclocytidine is a pyrimidine nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis; it exhibits antiviral and anticancer chemotherapeutic activities. Cyclocytidine induces degranulation of granular tubules in research models. This compound inhibits proliferation of herpes simplex virus (HSV-1) and cytomegalovirus (CMV) in vitro. Previously, cyclocytidine has been used to treat some leukemias, but has since largely been replaced in clinical use.
