Description

Clemastine is a first generation antihistamine. As a histamine H1 antagonist, it has anticholinergic properties. It has also been investigated for its neuroprotective properties. It enhances myelination in the prefrontal cortex in socially isolated mice, and rescues behavioral changes. It also alleviates stress-related depressive-like behavior in mice, and may reduce neuroinflammation in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
