Description
Fosinopril is an inhibitor of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) that exhibits antihypertensive and anti-atherosclerotic activities. Fosinopril is clinically used to treat congestive heart failure (CHF). In vivo, fosinopril decreases expression of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR 4) and NF-κB, suppressing formation of atherosclerotic plaques. Additionally, fosinopril decreases left ventricular hypertrophy, pressure, and expression of TGF-β1 in spontaneously hypertensive rats.
