Lonidamine inhibits glycolysis by inhibiting hexokinases; it exhibits anti-aging, anti-parasitic, and anti-fertility activities. Lonidamine increases lifespan in Caenorhabditis elegans, increasing stress resistance and promoting mitochondrial respiration by increasing levels of ROS. Lonidamine also displays antibiotic activity, causing death in Trypanosoma. In vivo, lonidamine increases testes weight and decreases sperm count and testosterone levels.
