Description
Teicoplanin is a glycopeptide antibiotic that displays antibacterial efficacy against gram positive bacteria. Teicoplanin is an analog of vancomycin with improved lipophilicity and bioavailability when given intramuscularly. Teicoplanin inhibits peptidoglycan formation and cell wall synthesis. This compound may also cause epileptogenic activity, potentially related to downstream modulation of GABA signaling. Teicoplanin is also used as a chiral selector in capillary liquid chromatography.
