Description

Uracil is an endogenous pyrimidine base found in RNA. Derivatives of uracil such as 5-fluorouracil exhibit anticancer chemotherapeutic activity. Other derivatives display antibacterial efficacy. Uracil is used in the synthesis of caffeine and plays a role in glucose metabolism.
