Description

Wortmannin is a steroid metabolite initially produced by fungi in the Penicillum genus. Wortmannin inhibits PI3K, mTOR, DNA-PK, PI4K, MLCK, MAPKs, and polo-like kinases (PLKs). In vivo, wortmannin inhibits activation of Akt and AMPK and decreases translocation of GLUT4, suppressing glucose uptake. Wortmannin also inhibits insulin-induced skeletal myoblast differentiation.
