10-Deacetyltaxol is a taxane found in Taxus that exhibits nephroprotective and anticancer activities. Like other taxanes, this compound binds tubulin and promotes microtubule assembly, preventing depolymerization. In animal models of polycystic kidney disease, 10-deacetyltaxol inhibits disease progression. This compound also inhibits growth of cervical carcinoma cells, glioblastoma cells, and neuroblastoma cells.
