Description

5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is an antimetabolite pyrimidine analog that exhibits anticancer chemotherapeutic activity; it inhibits thymidylate synthase, preventing thymidine synthesis. 5-FU is clinically used to treat various cancers and is often co-administered with other chemotherapeutics to decrease its peripheral cytotoxicity.
