Description
Loratadine is a non-sedating antihistaminergic that acts as an antagonist at histamine H1 receptors that exhibits anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-asthma, and anticancer chemotherapeutic activities. Loratadine is clinically used to treat allergic rhinitis, chronic idiopathic urticaria, and asthma. In vivo, loratadine inhibits growth of colon cancer xenografts through decreases expression of cyclin B1 and Chk1, the induction of G2/M phase cell cycle arrest, and direct damage to DNA. Loratadine also acts as a functional inhibitor of acid sphingomyelinase (FIASMA).
