Nifedipine is a dihydropyridine that acts as an antagonist at L-type Ca2+ channels. Nifedipine exhibits antihypertensive, anti-anginal, cardioprotective, tocolytic, and analgesic activities. This compound is clinically used in the treatment of angina and to prevent preterm labor in pregnant females. Additionally, nifedipine alters pain thresholds in the tail withdrawal electric stimulation test.
