Description

Paxilline is a neuroactive mycotoxin initially produced by species of Penicillum and Aspergillus. In vitro and in vivo, paxilline inhibits Ca2+/voltage-sensitive K+ (BK) channels. Paxilline also competitively inhibits sarco/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase (SERCA), preventing Ca2+ release and phosphoenzyme formation.
