Uperolein is a physalaemin-like endecapeptide that acts as a tachykinin, binding the neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor. Uperolein induces spasmogenic activity in smooth muscle cells in the stomach. Uperolein was initially found in the skin of species of Uperoleia and Taudactylus frogs.
