Description

Xenin is an endogenous neurotensin-related peptide hormone that exhibits anorexigenic activity, suppressing feeding behavior in vivo in an IL-1R-dependent manner. Xenin also induces relaxation in ileal smooth muscle cells through activity at neurotensin-type apamin-sensitive receptors. Xenin also delays gastric emptying in vivo, likely contributing to its effects on feeding behavior.
