Phalloidin is a phallotoxin found in Amanita phalloides that exhibits cytotoxic activity. Phalloidin binds F-actin and inhibits depolymerization; it locks adjacent subunits together, preventing actin ATP hydrolysis. Fluorescent-tagged conjugates of phalloidin are used to measure distribution of F-actin in vitro.
