Description
Neuromedin N is an endogenous proneurotensin peptide involved in energy homeostasis regulation; it modulates hypothalamic thermoregulatory signaling in animal models and induces contraction in ileal smooth muscle cells. Neuromedin N also inhibits reward/reinforcement signaling by inhibiting the intracranial self-stimulation (ICSS) in animal models of reward and reinforcement. Src activates proneurotensin/neuromedin N promoter activity in a Raf-dependent manner. Additionally, neuromedin N is inactivated by dipeptidyl peptidases and aminopeptidases.
