Iberverin is a sulforaphane homolog found in cruciferous vegetables. This isothiocyanate (ITC) exhibits antioxidative activity. Iberverin induces phase II enzymes, increasing glutathione-S-transferase and quinone reductase expression in vivo. Additionally, iberverin increases expression of Nrf2, γ-glutamylcysteine synthetase, and heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1). Iberverin displays chemopreventive potential, decreasing expression of androgen receptors (ARs) in prostate cancer cells.
