Description
Cyclosporin A is a cyclic peptide that exhibits immunosuppressive activity. Cyclosporin A is clinically used to prevent rejection in organ transplants and to treat or prevent graft-versus-host disease (GvHD). Cyclosporin A binds cyclophilin, inhibiting calcineurin and decreasing levels of IL-2 and activated T cells. Cyclosporin A also shows benefit in the treatment of traumatic brain injury.
