Danazol is a derivative of the synthetic steroid ethisterone that is clinically used to treat endometriosis and hereditary angioedema; it also promotes pregnancy in female subjects undergoing in vitro fertilization. Danazol inhibits production of gonadotropins such as luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and weakly activates the androgen receptor.
