Description

Flurbiprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is clinically used to treat arthritis. Flurbiprofen is a non-selective inhibitor of COX-1 and COX-2 that exhibits analgesic, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, anti-metastatic, and anticancer chemotherapeutic activities. In vivo, flurbiprofen suppresses injury induced by cerebral ischemia/reperfusion, decreasing infarct volume, apoptosis, and neurological deficits. In cellular and animal models of gastric cancer, flurbiprofen downregulates expression of cyclin D1 and CDK4, upregulates expression of p75, and decreases cellular proliferation, metastasis, and tumor size.
