Description
Myelin basic protein (1-11) is a peptide antigen fragment that may bind to receptors expressed by T cells involved in autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis. Administration of myelin basic protein (1-11) decreases expression of IL-12 in the lymph nodes of mice with experimental autoimmune encephalitis (EAE), an animal model of multiple sclerosis; IL-12 appears to play a protective role against EAE pathology and development.
