Description
Neuropeptide F (NPF) is a neuropeptide Y-like ortholog found in insects and gastropods. NPF modulates sleep activity, suppressing signaling of wake-promoting ventrolateral clock neurons. NPF also modulates cAMP/PKA/CREB signaling in animal models. Additionally, NPF plays a role in learning, stress responses, feeding, and courtship behavior; in male locusts, NPF increases the weight of the testes and seminal vesicles.
