α-Linolenic Acid, ALA, is an omega-3 fatty acid from plant sources, such as soybeans, walnuts, canola oil and flaxseed. Similar to the omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)and docosahexaeoic acid (DHA) from sea food, ALA has been known to have protective effects on coronary heart disease.
