Description

α-Zearalenol is a mycotoxin that has structural similarity to estrogen and can bind to estrogen receptors. α-Zearalenol is one of the major metabolites of zearalenone, which is produced by several species of Fusarium and is known to induce many toxic effects. In cultured cells, α-Zearalenol was shown to inhibit cell viability, protein and DNA syntheses, and to induce oxidative damage.
