Description

γ-1 Melanocyte-stimulating hormone (γ-1 MSH) is an endogenous POMC-derived peptide found in the pituitary that activates melanocortin receptors. γ-1 MSH increases release of extracellular dopamine in the ventral tegmental area (VTA) and promotes the release of melanin by melanocytes.
