Description
Bulleyaconitine A (BLA) is found in Aconitum bulleyanum and exhibits analgesic and anesthetic activity. BLA has been used as a treatment for a variety of pain-related and inflammatory disorders. BLA inhibits voltage-gated Na+ channels in a use-dependent manner, reducing peak Na+ currents during repeated stimulation in vitro and in vivo. In animal models, combination of BLA with lidocaine or epinephrine reduces drug absorption and prolonged the anesthetic effect with minimal adverse effects. Like other aconitines, BLA is thought to act at neurotoxin receptor site 2.
