Description

Clofibrate is a fibrate compound that exhibits anti-hyperlipidemic and anticancer activities. Clofibrate acts as an agonist at PPARα, increasing lipoprotein lipase and HDL and decreasing triglycerides and VLDL. In leukemia cells, clofibrate induces G0/G1 phase cell cycle arrest and differentiation, decreases levels of c-myb and cyclin D2, and inhibits cellular growth.
