This hexapeptide is equivalent to a sequence found on the A1 chain of laminin; it exhibits pro-angiogenic activity. Like other laminin peptides, this sequence can be used in combination with chemotherapeutics to deliver the drug to target tumor tissues. In vitro, this peptide increases vessel formation and migration. This peptide also increases secretion of matrix metalloproteinases 2 and 9 (MMP2/9), modulating the morphology of salivary gland adenoid cystic carcinoma cells.
