Description
Moclobemide is a reversible inhibitor of MAO-A that exhibits antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive, and neuromodulatory activities. Moclobemide decreases immobility time in animals undergoing the forced swim test and suppresses LPS-induced increases in IL-1β and TNF-α expression in glial cells. Additionally, moclobemide increases latency time in animal models of thermal pain through an α2-adrenergic receptor-mediated pathway. Moclobemide also induces hippocampal neurogenesis, upregulating progenitor cell proliferation and expression of BDNF in vitro.
