Description
Pancreatic polypeptide is an endogenous neuropeptide Y-family hormone that exhibits anorexigenic activity. Pancreatic polypeptide binds the Y4 receptor to decrease food intake, increase locomotor activity, and stimulate colonic muscle contractions and transit. Decreased secretion of pancreatic polypeptide is associated with improvements in pancreatic β-cell function in subjects with type 2 diabetes.
