Valnemulin hydrochloride is a pleuromutilin antibiotic derivative with anti-inflammatory activities. In cell line RAW264.7, valmenulin inhibited nitric oxide, prostaglandin E2, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha. In a mouse model of lung injury, valnemulin was found to decrease tissue injury and inflammation. Furthermore, a study on Staphylococcus aureus found valnemulin to give prolonged postantibiotic effects.
