Description

Acemetacin is a glycolic acid ester prodrug of indomethacin; it is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits COX-1 and COX-2, decreasing production of thromboxane B2 (TxB2) and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). Acemetacin is clinically used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and post-operative pain. In vitro, acemetacin also exhibits antioxidative activity, scavenging ROS and RNS.
