Description

Etofenamate is a nonselective non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that prevents prostaglandin synthesis, likely through the inhibition of COX-1/2 and lipoxygenase; it exhibits analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities. In animal models of carrageenan-induced inflammation, etofenamate suppresses swelling and increases the pain threshold. Use of etofenamate is limited by drug-induced allergic contact dermatitis.
