Description

Fenticonazole is an imidazole derivative that exhibits antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-parasitic activities. Fenticonazole inhibits secretion of proteinase, potentially through antagonism of glucosamine-6-phosphate synthase; it also damages fungal cytoplasmic membranes and inhibits cytochrome oxidases and peroxidases. Fenticonazole displays antimicrobial activity against a variety of organisms, including species of Candida, Trichomonas, and gram positive bacteria. This compound may inhibit 14-α demethylase.
