Description
Phallicidin is a phallotoxin found in Amanita phalloides that exhibits cytotoxic activity. Phallicidin binds F-actin and inhibits depolymerization; it locks adjacent subunits together, preventing actin ATP hydrolysis. Fluorescent-tagged conjugates of phallicidin are used to measure distribution of F-actin in vitro. Phallicidin also inhibits mast cell degranulation.
