Description

Proctolin is an endogenous excitatory neuromodulatory peptide found in crustaceans and insects. Proctolin exhibits vasoconstrictive activity, increasing vascular resistance and increasing antennae-heart beat rates in vivo. Additionally, in other in vivo models, proctolin modulates vitellogenin uptake. Release of proctolin can be induced by stretch-related stimulation.
