Description
Ramipril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that exhibits anti-arrhythmic, antihypertensive, and cardioprotective activities. In animal models of myocardial infarction, ramipril decreases ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation. In other, similar animal models, ramipril increases antioxidative enzyme activity, improving left ventricular ejection fraction and inhibiting left ventricular remodeling. Ramipril is clinically used to treat high blood pressure, congestive heart failure (CHF), and diabetic neuropathy.
