Salmeterol is a long-acting β2-adrenergic receptor agonist that is clinically used to treat asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Salmeterol exhibits anti-asthma, anti-fibrotic, and anti-inflammatory activities. In vitro, salmeterol decreases TGF-β-induced deposition of collagen and fibronectin.
