Description
This nonapeptide is equivalent to a sequence found on the B1 chain of laminin (925-933); it exhibits vasoconstrictive, anti-metastatic, and anti-angiogenic activities. This peptide increases vascular tone, producing vasoconstriction and inducing Ca2+ influx in vascular smooth muscle cells; it also activates nonselective cation channels. In vitro, this peptide inhibits angiogenesis and cell migration. In vivo, this peptide inhibits growth of sarcoma 180 tumors and Lewis lung carcinoma tumors. Like other laminin peptides, this sequence can be used in combination with chemotherapeutics to deliver the drug to target tumor tissues.
