Description

Nigericin is an antibiotic found in Streptomyces that exhibits antibacterial activity against gram positive bacteria. Nigericin inhibits Golgi function and viral activation, acting as an antiviral compound. Nigericin also acts as a H+/K+/Pb2+ ionophore. Additionally, this compound displays pro-inflammatory and immunostimulatory activities, triggering activation of the NALP3 inflammasome.
