Description
β-Zearalenol is a mycotoxin that has structural similarity to estrogen and can bind to estrogen receptors. β-Zearalenol is one of the major metabolites of zearalenone, which is produced by several species of Fusarium and is known to induce many toxic effects. In cultured cells, β-Zearalenol was shown to inhibit cell viability, protein and DNA syntheses, and to induce oxidative damage.
