Description

Octopamine is an endogenous neuromodulatory amine that can also be found in plant sources. Octopamine stimulates motor activity and muscular contractions in the foregut at low doses and decreases contractions at high doses. Octopamine also inhibits LPS-stimulated release of NO in a β-adrenergic receptor-dependent manner in astroglia. Additionally, this peptide decreases juvenile hormone degradation in female Drosophila.
